
Biography
Anokha comes from a musical background, her father was a musician (bass player) and as a result music was something that has been present all her life. Aditionally, Anokha is a Hindi word that means rare or being special, in other words unique.
She is an oriental dancer, and has performed both in Portugal and in England, and has collaborated with the bands: Gypsy Hill, Meduna and Atma, furthermore dancewise has performed with Dian Rego's Dance Company.
During her times in London she had the opportunity to present a dance work entitled as "Celebration of the Sacred Feminine", and was reviewed as "a startling display of avant garde belly-dancing" by the newspaper The Guardian.
Furthermore, Anokha made an artistic collaboration with the renowned Canadian world ambient fusion artist, music producer and DJ Adham Shaikh for the launch of his last album "Basswalla". Together, they made a music video of his tune, also named, "Basswalla". In aditdion, she was the choreographer, dancer and producer - referred as Rita Coxe.

Currently, Anokha organizes an event of world music and dance, in the city of Lisbon, named Hafla Tarab, which has now 10 successful editions.
Anokha applies her musical past as influence, which results in classical and folkloric styles of Oriental Dance as well blending other rhythms and ethnic movements, i.e., Belly Dance Tribal Fusion, ATS and Indian classical dance with a flavor of electronic music. Her perspective is gathering various cultures to show how they are all connected. Furthermore, her objective is to show the possibilities of Oriental Dance from classical style to folkloric with a touch of contemporary, which results in an experimental work with electronic music, therefore exploring the infinite possibilities of music and dance.
